Effectively similar to the MZ-R35 in form factor but with MZ-R55 guts. Considered a “cost reduced” version. Has no mic sensitivity, no erase button (though the option is in the edit menu), no time/date stamp, and the remote has no LCD (though the MZ-R55 remote (and other LCD remotes) work with it).

Variants:

MZ-R37SP Originally thought to mean “self powered” (possibly as a nod to the R37's status as the cost-reduced MD recorder contemporary to the R55) and include no power adapter, this version appears to include different headphones, several are seen on auction sites with a power adapter and a box big enough to fit the power adapter.

MZ-R37PCIF version is the same base MZ-R37 unit bundled with a USB to analog line-out interface adapter (Xitel MD-PORT AN1), allowing easy recording from a PC. Note that this is NOT NetMD.

MZ-R37SPPC version is the same base MZ-R37 with the USB to analog line interface adapter. Seen on eBay in a blister pack/hanging package.

MZ-R37SPPCT version is the same base MZ-R37 unit with the USB to analog line interface adapter. Seen on eBay with a Wal-Mart or Best Buy price sticker, $194.47 this may have been a SKU to avoid price matching or may have some other difference from both the SP and PCIF versions.

Runs on two standard alkaline AAs, no sidecar. Will work with NiMH rechargeables (Eneloops). Does not like Lithium AAs
